Positives vs. Negatives
POSITIVE:
- Increasing the yield through the use of transgenic animals positively impacts the companies economically, as they are able to make more money off of the same number of animals.
- Increasing the yield also can potentially help feed those third world countries who are suffering from starvation.
- Possibility of saving the lives of many
- In some cases environmentally friendly
- Could potentially be used in gene therapy to treat illnesses such as sickle cell anemia, muscular dystrophy, and cystic fibrosis

NEGATIVE:
- Could possibly harm the animals and cause them to suffer
- Controversial because of ethics
- The side effects of altering a species genome isn’t known yet
- The animal may not benefit
- Altering the natural genome of species
- Transgenic meat might not be the healthiest
- Offspring might not always be as viable
